Hiding Gelam

Anybody have opinions as to how long I should leave my BTA bang slap in the middle of my reef but on the bottom, I can just see a bit of him, which looks OK, and he still has his shrimp with him. Already been about 2 weeks. He does get spots of lights from my Halides, but its impossible to feed him.

Thanks.

Contrary to popular opinion, I don't believe anemones always know what is best for them. I have seen too many move back into the rock work and die from lack of light and food.

However, since you can see it, it could extend itself though the hole if it wanted to. I would wait another week before I would think about moving it.

Thanks Phil
I shall give it more time, I actually did manage to drop a bit of lance fish on it which as far as I could see it ate.

I also would recommend that you redo the rockwork so that light and food will get to the anemone. When this happen to my BTA, I moved the rock to the middle of the sand so he can not get off the rock without go on to the fine sand. Make sure there is partial shade so that he can get to it if he want out of very bright light.
goodluck,

Thanks all,
Since I have had him- a month, he has always been shy of the Halide lights, - when on top of the rocks he expands enormously at night.
His feeding reaction have always been fast, and everything else in the tank including a pink malu are doing great.
The clowns have given him up and have taken over an alveopora and a stokesi, which now fully extend with the clowns in them, so hopefully no harm being done.
Thanks for the advice.
