Hiding or worst case?

I let my clowns out of their little breeder box in my tank yesterday. This morning and all of today I have only seen one of the two all day. Is the other just hiding or is he no longer with us?

The only other fish in the tank is a lawnmower blenny and snails and some crabs.

Clowns are one of the least likely to hide for very long, but give it awhile longer before thinking the worst.

Just how many crabs? I had a loss a few months back and let's just say my cleanup crew was very.....efficient.....

What kind of clownfish are we talking about, and were they in the same tank at the LFS? Most clownfish won't kill each other in such short order, with the exception of maroons, but it's a possibility. I'd also check the sump (if you have one) thoroughly if you haven't already. I agree that clowns tend not to hide for long periods. . .though they can be a bit shy.

They are Onyx clowns, they were in a breeder box for about a week, and eating. I let them out of the breeder box yesterday and it is the larger of the two that is missing. Yes I checked the sump. the filter socks had no fish in them, no fish in the fuge or in any of the sump sections.

I'll see if he shows his head tomorrow and I'll try feeding and see if he comes out.
