This last week, I had a reactor accident and my alkalinity went to 8meq/l..
I lost 3 of my nicest corals in a night, RTN's They all started at the base and worked up in very short time.
I am not sure if this is true, but is seems that if your CA level is higher, that the SPS's are more tolerant of higher alkalinities. Mine was only at 380-400ppm.
That really bummed me. One of those was a beautiful blue tort.
