High flow rate - Sand bed or not?

When I "reinvent" my 180 shortly, I plan on using a sand bed - at least I'd LIKE to. I think it just looks more natural. I'd like a few inches of sand at the least.

My question is, I currently have 3x6100 Tunze Streams, a Koralia 4 which is going to be replaced with a 4th 6100, I am upgrading the locline returns to possibly Wavy Seas, upgrading the return pump and am thinking about a Tunze Wavebox.

All that said, am I just going to have one big SANDSTORM? Or will I be able to position all of the flow in such a way as to not disturb the sand too much?

i put a layer of dolomite over my sugar....8000 gal hour....works great

dont mean to hijack this thread but whats the difference between a sandbed and just normal sand lying on the bottom?
