high Mag levels

I know you are a IO for all these years.And there always been a big debate about DKH levels.Where some run it high and others,feel 8.0 closer to NSL are better.With Oceanic salt and IO I was just trying to get a more balance ratio of all of the Mag.Cal. Alk.But when I mixed these two half and half,my Mag went to 1450.in my system.In your opinion being you use IO only.Would be just best to mix the IO,and just adjust say your Cal levels ALK and Mag.What ever would be on the high or low side.It seems that mixing these two combo now.Each water change seem to be different.Just trying to stable the system from one water change to the other.And keeping my readings the same,per water change.If you have a high Mag as 1450 is there any fall out as for the corals.And I would think,really can't do to much now as for lowering MG?Until next water change.I guess I should just stay with one salt and just work with that?But I found others folks here,mixing 2 salts.I just want stable ALK,MAG CAL.This is probably my fault,as trying to experiment these combo together.But there always been on going issues with all these salt.Maybe it's best just to go back to the good old reliable IO.WhichI used many years ago.Any info would be great as years of using IO.

Have you measured the magnesium in your IO?

With respect to magnesium, the water changes should provide fairly small tugs on the magnesium level in the tank, even if the water change water is quite different. I assume you are not doing unusually large changes.

FWIW, I use IO now and boost the calcium and magnesium in it with Dowflake and MAG Flake. I don't measure each batch, i just assume each is typical and add a fixed amount.
