High ph 4.5 reef tank

8.5 or 8.7?
Are you sure your device is calibrated properly and that you are capable of accurate measurements?
Ph will rise when the lights are on due to organism photosynthesis,etc...

Are you noticing problems from this ph range?

This is completely normal. I wouldn’t worry about it. I ran a tank that went from 8.3-8.6 daily. Coral and fish were very healthy. However, If you want it lower and your Alk is good, you need to add carbon dioxide to the water. Freshwater tanks typically do this in planted tanks to give the plants carbon dioxide to grow. But if it were me, I’d leave it.
