High PH

Help!

I think..

I did a water change this weekend and all of the sudden my PH spiked to 8.08 and its been as high as 8.12! All of the corals appear to be fine and my SPS still have great polyp extension.

Has anyone ever had this happen and if so what was the culprit?

Actually 8.12 is not very high for a marine tank. a pH from 8.2-8.4 is normal. Actually your pH might be on the low side.

Thats what I was thinking I had to go look again at mine it stays about 8.3 98%of the time.

Did you happen to open some windows? My pH is going up lately because my windows are open now that it's not so hot... More oxygen in the room = high pH.

I agree that it is actually somewhat low but It has been around 8.0 and then it jumped.

I was concerned since it has never done that before but now it appears to be getting stable again.

What do you guys keep your ph at?

mine runs between 8-8.4 . It def. Is affected by the outside air as mentioned above. I can actually see a shift in ph quite rapidly with the windows open.

Yup, I wouldn't worry about it.

At 3 AM mine was 8.10. At 7PM it was 8.4.
