Hikari Jumbo Mysis shrimp

Has anyone tried these yet? Seems my wrasses and other fish just don't care for them like they do the smaller mysis.

I use them along with PE Mysis... the Hikari product is a good, less expensive alternative. It's fish candy.

They are generally too big for most wrasses since they have smaller mouths. Of all the fish in my tank, only the 5"+ Xmas Island emp eats it. Sometimes, the fowleri tang will try to steal some of the smaller pieces away but that's about it. No one else pays it any attention.

They are too big for all but my largest fish, and even they don't appreciate the "shell" on :)

I use them as RBTA food... won't buy them again.

IME they are great for angels bigger than 5", golden dwarf eels, tamarin wrasses, moorish idols, fairy wrasses 4" or larger and triggers. I would never be without Hikary Jumbo or regular mysis.

If too big, chop them up. I chop both Hikari and PE Mysis - none of my fish eat them whole (but I have no BIG fish).

I tried that. I ended up with lots of shells and antennae and eyeballs floating around the tank. If I'm going to go through the trouble of mincing food, I'll just use shrimp or scallop from the grocery store, so every little bit I add to the tank is edible.

How big are they? I have the regular hikari mysis which are pretty small, I may have to order some of the jumbo for my trigger.

Bigger and thicker than PE mysis, but more importantly, MUCH harder. I would defintely compare them to small krill as opposed to large PE mysis...

Thanks for the pic, actually those might work well, I have krill as well which is just slightly too large so those would be about perfect. They are a lot bigger than I was imagining.

My larger fish (emp, majestic, doliatus rabbit) just love them but they are too big for most of my other fish. I always feed a mix of large and small mysis so everyone is happy.
