hi fellows....

I´m having a serious trouble with my hipo tang....the fish is going crazy. He is constantly rubbing on the rocks due the ictio. The hepatus is new in my tank but he comes from another tank...the fish is eating like a pig....I don´t have another tank to treat him...and I have many corals...so hiposalinity or copper in my tank could be disastrous...

What can I do????

Thanks guys and sorry for my terrible english

This is also happening to my hippo. It has ich. I'm wondering is there any other way to treat it without having to quarentine it? So far he's the only one that has it I have 2 chromis 2 false perculas and 1 royal gramma. Need advice please and thank you

Sounds like ich. You can try and feed garlic, and good food. That won't kill the ich, but if the fish are healthy enough then they may pull through. Also a UV seems to help.

But the only way to get rid of ich is to quarantine (with copper or hypo) all your fish for 8-12 weeks. Or keep your fish alive without adding any new strains of ich for a year.

p.s. I did have a case where probiotic seemed to get rid of the ich, and they also claim it is effective against ich.

Find another tank, anything that will hold water will due, and QT it along with the other fish. A simple QT can be based on a large Rubbermaid from Walmart. There are no reef-save treatments, and a good diet can only go so far, eventually something will stress the fish out to where it will fall prey to crypt. again.

What should I do if I have hermit crabs snails and a polyp? Should I keep those in the tank or should I quarentine them to? And can I get Cooper or hypo from my lfs?

I would leave the fish where it is and feed good and do not stress the fish and keep water paramaters in check it will go away but will always be present in your tank mine gets a couple spots here and there but goes away mine gets stressed from my sailfin chasing him every so often other than that he is a fat happy fish..

Thanks guys...

I´m searching for a quarentine tank...but I have to cycle the q.tank..and this could take some time!!!! For now I´m feeding my fish like a mad...and he is eating like a pig!!!

Best regards...sorry for my terrible english

Yea so far my hippo is the only one that has it so for now I'm not going to try to stress them with a water change or anything and hopefully it goes away. My red blood fire shrimp keep on cleaning him so hopefully it goes away. If it gets worse then I'm going to quarentine All of the fish and treat them with copper and hypo to. Thank you for the advice and knowledge. I will let you guys know how things turn out.

If you need to set up an emergency qt tank you could always use the seeded sponge method from your dt. If you don't have one your lfs should have something you could use. A lfs set up my qt tank in 2 days my fish were looking better. Def need to keep the ammonia to the minimum while setting up a qt tank or your fish could get alot worse and more diseases. IME not moving my fish into a qt killed a couple but everyones tank is different and it depends on the course if the disease.

update on ich: my royal gramma got ich to days ago and i found out that he died from sometime threw lastnight and this morning. so far the hippo is hanging in there getting cleaned by the blood red shrimp alot. i went to my lfs and they told me hippos are the most common to get ich and i should just wait it out.
