hippo and purple tangs

I have a hippo tang right now. I would really like to add a Red Sea Purple tang to my tank.

Can I put these 2 tangs together??

I have them together with no problem. How large is the hippo? I would say to go with a smaller purple and you should be ok...IMO.

I've got this combination also along with a Naso and Yellow. I'd make sure the Purple is the last tang added and if at all possible get him a little smaller then the Hippo. Purples can be quite aggressive so you want to give the Hippo the size advantage if at all possible.

I have a 75 gallon. maybe 60 lbs of lbs of live right. I'll keep the size in mind b/c my hippo is only about 2".

thanks for the info.

Your regal tank will out grow that 75 gallon tank in less than a year if not sooner and adding a purple tang, which can sometimes be down right mean to other tangs, will probably lead to both of these fish fighting.

Have yall ever heard of a shy purple tang? I have been keeping one for 6 months now in my 65gal reef tank and he has been super skidish since day one? He is the biggest fish in the tank, at about 5 inches. The other inhabitants are: potter's angel, bangaii & pajama cardinals, white spot blenny, orchid and neon dottybacks, neon goby, and sixline wrasse. He was the first fish and never gets chased. He eats every well on algae clips, cyclopeeze, and 3 varieties of flake. His coloration is slightly faded which corrisponds to his demenor.

He's probably agitated because the tank is too small. A purple tang should be in a larger tank, they need alot of swimming space.
