Hippo gill shut & not moving?

Just looking at my tank and noticed the left gill on my blue hippo seems to be shut tight and doesn't pulse at all...??? The other side seems to be pulsing just fine. The fish acts normal, eats well, not spots, anything....any idea why one gill is shut and not functioning?

One gill remaining shut is often referred to as "jamming." You'll see a lot of this in freshwater discus. I'm not really sure if that's the case here, but you might want to look into gill flukes for more information. Acting normal and having a healthy appetite is always a good sign though. Those blue tangs do seem to have all kinds of strange quirks.

Ya, either flukes or its a fluke....both gills are working fine again today...really weird.....guess I will keep a close eye on him
