I am looking at one of these two for my tank. I am looking at them at seahorse.com as they are the two cheapest of the seahorses for sale there. However not much info is listed on these guys. Do any of you know any info on these like their difficulty?

Possibly the very easiest of all horses to keep.

procurus is very close in looks to whiteii, only recently been clasified as a seperate species.

procurus is tropical, whiteii subtropical.

No idea who sells them, we used to, but no more.

If they have them, they are about the only place in the US you will find them.

Project Seahorse classifies them as a single species. Australia recognizes them as 2 distinct species. One of the aquariums did some DNA testing and confirmed 2 distinct species.

Procerus is the better choice unless you have a chiller as they can handle tropical temperatures better. Whitei can handle temperatures up to the lower 70's.

Do they have any of those breeds for sale and just not update their website? I have been checking their site monthly and have not seen of the whitie for sale....

FWIW, i don't know of ANYONE who has either species. there used to be a couple of hobbyists who were breeding whitei, but that was a few years ago.

Dan would know best, and he has replied. He's one of the top peeps in the field.

I have had reidi`s and very difficult to rear the fry. I have erectus and they are much easier to rear the fry. I am looking to sell the mated pair due to moving to another state. I am not experienced in shipping saltwater fish. Anyone interested in these should contact me thru this forum. the mated pair is captive bred and around 7 mnths old.
