hitch hiker to nice coral 4 years later

I got this coral as a hitch hiker probably 4 years ago. and it has done very well in my tank... It has lasted through the cycles and through my daughter nuking the rest of my tank about a year ago ... (long story)..
This tank was run skimmer-less for this corals first 3 or so years.. it wasn't until the crash that I decided to add a skimmer to my tank.

I believe it is some type of Favia... it is around a baseball size sliced in half. Originally it was as small as my wife's pinky nail.

Good stuff... like it.

I found a hitchhiker plate coral on some live rock and went from less than 1/4 inch to over 6 inches very fast.

I guess the thing to do in order to find this stuff is to inspect your live rock under blue light...and anything that seems fluorescent or have a green glow to it has a potential to grow into something nice.
