Pics arent the best, but if someone could point to a family name or more info it would be appreciated.

I have several very similar looking snails, only they are not as bright pink. They are very small, less than a centimeter in diameter, and they are much more active at night. I would really like to know what they are as well. I wonder if they are reef safe.

I've noticed the one pictured off and on for years, it seems to be a harmless grazer. I've never noticed it spending any time near any particular coral.

Thanks, that is good to know. I'd still like to know what the snail is out of curiosity. Does anyone know of an online list of snails for id purposes?
What are those cool plants in your pic by the way?

That's a beautiful specimen of Collonista. I've never seen one with coloration that bright before.

Also, www.gastropods.com is a good resource for snail IDs. If you aren't fairly familiar with snails though it can be pretty tough to use. For more of a ballpark guess something like Melev's site would probably be good for most hobbyists.

Dont know what that one is....but man I would love to get a source for them.....they would be hot sellers I would imagine, its beautiful indeed...LOL

I have seen several specimens of this Collonista snail with this coloration. I'm not sure if it is a different species or just different coloration, but definitely pretty.

I'm not sure they would be hot sellers as they are typically no larger than a pencil eraser when full grown and typically half that size or less.

Still very pretty.

I've been seeing that guy for some time now and was finally able to get a picture. It has been the size that it is in the picture for better than a year so I would say its fully grown at less than 1/8 inch.

Only one? :(

Hey snail people, are these hermaphrodites? Or if there's only one are we outta luck for pretty snails for our tanks? :(

Ours are just brown. *sigh*

You know you got the seamonkey on your back when you're a gal and the only pink colors you like are on marine critters. :D

No, they aren't hermaphrodites. Even if they were you would still need two of them to get them to reproduce. There aren't a whole lot of self fertilizing hermaphrodites in the "higher" animal groups.

I thought I only had one cause that was all I ever saw, but after noticing this guy and getting pictures I started looking more closely, and found a few more. Then late one night I turned the lights on and quickly counted a couple dozen. So I think they are breeding. Unfortunately they are very small, and mostly nocturnal.
