i recently started to feed my blue tang nori to help cure the hlle. the fish doesnt have a bad case. i was wondering when the fish will start to look better?!

I'm not sure which species you mean, but I wouldn't assume it will get better from nori feeding. HLLE in hippo tangs (one type of "blue tang") is a real problem, IME. Mine ate plenty of nori and other fish were fine but the hippos always had erosions on the head.

There are lots of hypotheses as to causes, including GAC and ozone use.

I got a hippo tang that had a bad case of HLLE. I soaked nori and pellets in Boyd's Vita-chem and the fish completely recovered.

I have personally seen very little correlation between 'better' feeding and improvements in HLLE symptoms. Further, I have always read that hippos, unlike most tangs, are more planktonic feeders than herbivores. Coral magazines recent article on tangs makes this point. Good nutrition, excellent water quality, adequate space and appropriate tankmates all seem to discourage HLLE. My anecdotal observations only!

I would try to vary their diet. I've had many tangs and none of them ever had HLLE. Maybe I was just lucky? I adopted a Sohol and purple that looked like someone took an Ice pick to their head for a cruel joke. I fed all my tangs nori, formula two pellets, krill, silver sides and mysis. After about 6 months you couldn't find a mark on them if you tried. I always had a few med. sized rocks of hair algae growing in the sump to keep feeding/grazing as natural as possible for them. When it got to be about 2" long and covered all over, I would put it in the DT and they would go crazy for it.
