Hmmmmmm Interesting Facts!!!!!! Jim Leyland got banned from RC

Out of pure boredom tonight I went on buyer/seller feedback and found an interesting post from a guy that made a trade with Jim Leyland out here and got ripped off and in the end Jim Leyland got banned from RC. Interesting to see as I wasnt the only one he was scamming. This is the time I am glad to see the moderators step in and keep people like that out!!!!

My recent saga with Jim was he was asking to have someone go in with him on Rics and I did. He then asked me to buy them and hold them because my tank was much larger and he was battling algae at the time. I agreed and bought the $200 and some dollars worth of Rics. After they arrived the next day I contacted and told him they were here. He then asked me if I would take payments as he was now short on cash. We agreed to $30 a week for a month. He sent 1 payment and never sent another. He then kept asking me to send pics of the Rics and go out of my way to show him what they looked liked and I refused till he came up with the cash or caught up on his payments which he never did. To make a long story short I refunded his $30 with a few choice words and refused to do any business with him again.

Not looking to bash Jim Leyland but since he is close to home here with us and has been in some dealings here I think we should all be aware so no one else gets ripped off. C-Sea members beware of future dealings with him.

Come on Jim you and I both know you are full of s--t. Again my intents weren't to bash you on here but to make other members in this club aware of your shady dealings. Jim I can if you like bring up a few more cases of other members in this club you stuck it to in dealings as well. I gave you opportunity after opportunity to pay me and you couldnt even come through. PersonallyI really didnt need to send the pics as I kept telling you to come see in person and PICK THEM UP!!! and of course you NEVER did. Why?? Prob because you were a few weeks late on sending me your cash. If you didnt have the money in the first place DONT GO making business offers!!!!!!!!! Hopefully you make it right with SoFloReefer

I only know Ben from a handful of deals and I have to say they he is an upfront, honest and would do anything to make a deal right and is very giving not only of his stock, but of his time.

not tryin to start anything (i dont know all the details of what happened, except that he got banned) but just adding what i know... if you are also active on SWF, he has a username on there (juggalojim) there are some posts on the trader feedback thread about him ripping another user off. as far as i know his account is still active on there.

I second that. To offer payments in the first place is pretty generous. I hope you were able to offload the rics Ben.

when you COMMIT to going in on a order , thats it your in. When someone put up their money for a joint order , there HAS been prior arrangements with the parties involved about the order. I find it hard to believe that Ben would put up hard earned cash, and only hope the other persons involved would pay his/her part of the deal. Pictures or not !!!! you have to be kidding me with the picture thing, I have got frags from Ben before and he was VERY FAIR with me , a few of the first corals i ever put in a salt water reef tank came form him , though he was very nice, fair and has one HELL of a nice tank !!! REEF ON BEN ,,,

Thanks to all for the comments. I wish his posts werent removed so I could have seen what was written but it really doesnt matter. To answer his picture request he keeps claimingwas his deal breaker. It came over 2 weeks after he paid only $30 to paypal (and I paid the fees on his payment) and then after he stopped paying for his half of the order so what he says is complete nonsense. I was even nice enough to allow him to come look at them in person and even pick them up before he even finished paying for them. I was just mad that he was flaking out and scamming me that I refused to waste any more of my time and send him pictures so I refunded his money at my expense again. It's probably better it worked out the way it did or I would have been out money and corals which by the way look amazing awesome colors!!!!! Anyone who knows me or has been to my house knows I am VERY fair. I give away quite abit of stuff as that is how I was able to get my start in the club with those same generous members.

I am not one to start problems nor am I out to attack Jim but something needs to be done to stop him from scamming more people. I feel making everyone aware is the first step. I am not sure if he is a active member of C-Sea but if he is I think the governing members of our club should consider banning him from the club and its functions until he makes it right with the people he has wronged. This is now the second time I have posted about Jim Leyland not holding up to his end of deals and asked him make things right. If anyone re-calls the last time I posted about him was after a guy kept posting in our forum asking for him to respond and take care of things. Jim if this is all a big misunderstanding then I will by all means apologize and recant all I said, but your track record is proving itself different. Also if all I say is wrong then by all means you will have no problem with me passing along your contact info to them so they can reach you and make things right.

Thanks for the PM Fd. This guy is a low life and has been banned from RC and SWF because of it. He scammed me in a very scum bag way claiming he was in a car accident and bringing his daughter into his BS. Ive received PMs from others as well who were scammed by him. Anyways Im glad hes watching this post because now I can say directly to him -
haha Jim I hope my coral was worth your reputation and being banned from the 2 biggest saltwater forums that exist. I will make sure you never do another deal on the net again so good luck in the hobby.

This emphasizes a point that I have been griping about for a while. You put the screws to someone EVERYONE should know about it. You accidently put the screws to someone hopefully you'll have the decentcy to resolve the issue. But as far as accountability? I've seen a few threads over the past where someone bought something and it was represented as a 250 watt light. It was a 150 watt light. But noone was called out.

Next someone alledged that someone sold her some infested monty's, but noone was called out. There was someone else with a light deal that went south and we were all told about the episode, but noone was called out.

If someone puts the screws to another club member/local RC member I want to know about it so that I don't come along dumb and happy and get mine too because someone didn't have the backbone to bring it up.

Community is bolstered by trust. Trust (unless you come from the naive camp) is earned. Trust is enforced by accountability. IF you do not practice it then there is no reinforcement and the sense of community is lost and as a member of this community it's your responsibility to see to it that trust and accountability are brought into play.

At least that's how I see it.

I hate to see deals go bad and do like to know who to avoid or watch very closely when dealing with but I have been waiting since the first post for this thread to be closed as the feedback forum is the place for this type of discussion. The Mods usually do not let it happen anywhere else. I am glad that it has been allowed here since he is more likely to do this again with a local than trying to deal with long distance deals.

Watch the name calling or this helpful thread will be history and all the work you did to warn people would be gone. I have dealt with Jim and haven't been ripped off but it was an "in-person" deal and there was no way to not follow through. Plus I think he knows I would hunt him down since he is 30 mins from my house. I think I outweigh him by at least double and would REALLY hate to be mad at him.

I also agree with the guys above. I didnt open this thread to attack Jim or start with the name calling/insults. I put this up here to warn others of his resent shady dealings with MANY so others would be warned. Now that all should have had time to read and be aware MODS PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!
