HOB for carbon

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if its possible to use a HOB filter (such as the Fluval C4) as a 'carbon reactor' or would the contact time be insufficient to gain any real benefit?

Main things I am looking at achieving are
- Increased water clarity
- Toxin control from softies

Being in Australia I don't have the same range as you do in over in the states for GFO/carbon reactors (such as BRS carry) and the freight to get such items here is as much or more then the item, plus the dollar is horrid so importing is not good at the moment.

Welcome!! Yes, depending on the tank size (it'll work for a medium sized tank) you can use a HOB to make a carbon filter. Have you checked out some of the YouTube videos on making a carbon reactor with a plastic bottle?
