HOB Overflow box for 75g

Ill have to agree with Scott on this. The lifereefs are pretty much a bullet proof design. Ive had mine up and running for about 3 years now and the only time it breaks siphon is when I take the tube out for cleaning. I turn my return pump off 2 times a day for feedings every single day, thats 730 times a year that it starts up without problems plus the countless poweroutages we go through. It is the one and only piece of equipment that i have that i never worry about and its all because of the designe. I stand by my Life Reef.

One thing, if you do get a U-tube overflow make sure you get a spare u-tube. They break very easy if you accidently drop them.

Well went over today and it turns out the tank is an AGA and was manufactured in 1996 (12 years old). It's still in good condition considering it's age, but him and I decided that a lifereef would do just fine. Drilling a 12yr old tank sounds scary.

I would drill it without hesitation. I have a 75G sump that I bought used. I think its pretty old. I drilled 2 holes in it and it went as smoothly as always.

If you (he) is uncomfortable doing it, that is understandable. Its a scary proposition the 1st time. Get the Lifereef and you will be happy with it. It will work just fine.

Yeah it's really up to him, I might give it a shot if it were mine but he just isn't too comfortable with it. I'm really glad this subject came up though and I found out about the $65 drill kit - I may use it down the road for a different tank.

Yeah, thats a pretty nice kit. You get the diamond holesaw, bulkhead, overflow, elbow all in one kit. Not bad at all.
