HOB skimmer on sump

I have access to a Octopus HOB skimmer. Could I extend the intake and out take tubes and use it on a sump? The stand I have doesn't have the room and I REALLY don't want the thing on the main.

Coral Vue seems non committal on it, go figure... gave me the ole

"don't see why not but we'd be interested to see how it goes"

I can't be the first one to consider this

I extended my HOB to use in my sump. I had to use vinyl hose to do it with clamps. I have only had it going now for a week and a half and it has worked as good as it did before it was extended. On the return pipe mine had an elbow on it. I removed it and made it just drain straight down. If yours does not work as well as mine did. Look at the bright side it will only cost you about $5 to find out. That is cheaper than a new one. Good luck
