HOB skimmer users advice

Hi,

Looking at setting up a frag tank with an hob skimmer. Concerned that the fluctuations in water level won't make the skimmer efficient.
Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Why would the water level fluctuate?
If the water level if fluctuating enough to cause problems with a HOB skimmer you have bigger problems than skimmer efficiencies..
Heck they aren't even that efficient to start with..
They certainly aren't a necessary piece of equipment..
Some tanks actual seem to run better without a skimmer..

Hey thanks! the water level does fluctuate due to evaporation. Same thing happens in a sump. But the baffles help to keep a constant water level.
You saying I should try and not yo use a skimmer on the frag tank?

Thats your choice.. It is an optional piece of equipment.

I think you should simply incorporate a proper top off program/system to limit the fluctuation of the water level and not worry about a potential slight change in skimmer efficiency.. Not to mention HOB skimmers are typically much more resilient/flexible to water levels..
