HOB skimmer

I'm looking for suggestions for a decent HOB skimmer for a 150g. Anyone got anything that works well for them? I have a HOB Octupus for my 90g and I love it, works well and is quiet (very important). I just don't think it is enough for a 150.

Coralife and Seaclone skimmers would not be adequate for any normal stocking levels on a 150g. In my experience the Coralife are very touchy, prone to overflowing, and easily broken. I work at a LFS so I have had numerous complaints and issues about Coralife skimmers.

If you want a HOB Skimmer, octopus makes some of the best ones for the money. You would need two of them. Any reason why you haven't considered an internal Skimmer? Tunze makes some excellent ones and their footprint is often less than an overflow box. They even have models with filtration built in so you have everything taken care of without any other odds and ends cluttering up your tank.

I have had a coralife before an it overflowed all the time! Definitely do not want that! I was thinking about just adding a second octupus and I did look at the tunze, which ones are better? Octopus or Tunze?

I wouldnt use the coralife either. Look at the Reef Octopus lx2000s. They are a little pricey... but work great.

I'm just wondering if an in tank skimmer would be better as this is a euro braced customs tank and it might be hard to hang something off the back.

My tank doesn't have a sump and I don't want to get it drilled. I also can't use an overflow due to the design of the tank.

Tunze design is good but not up to date. Now days, they come up with a new technology for skimmers every day. Octopus has been able too keep up with introducing new designs with better performance. Octopus best purches for the Money$$

Maybe I should just get a second octopus. I do like the Super Octoplus LX but my tank is eurbraced, there is a 2.5" rim of glass that goes around the tank, I don't think the skimmer would fit over it.
