Will a hoevens wrasse and a dusky wrasse play nice in a 90 gallon

Maybe, maybe not. Probably, but I wouldn't be surprised if not.

Was my guess as well. Dusky is well established and about 4.5 inches. Hoevens would be transitioning male about 2.5-3 inches. Hate to put it in and it goes sideways.

I wouldn't try unless the hoeven's was bigger than the dusky. If you try It, good luck!

No will pass, do not wish to sentence a fish to death. Any other wrasses anyone would recommend to try with a dusky?

If Halichoeres are your thing, plenty of other Halichoeres would be fine; just avoid the ones which closely resemble the Dusky (like the hoevens).
Otherwise, Cirrhilabrus & Paracheilinus would be safe.
