Holding tank crash

I spent this weekend moving my 65 gallon tank to my living room. Because of a shody pre-planning paint job I lost some time repainting the stand after the tank had been taken off. In addition I needed to run PVC into my basement so I could keep the sump downstairs and not create such a mess in the living room.

When I finally got to start moving livestock (~48 hours later) I moved a rock at discovered my 6 line wrasse dead on the bottom of the bin. I quickly checked the temperature and found it at 73 degrees. I'd like to say I had been checking and I did check it a few times but maybe this could have been prevented. My heater seemed ok when I pulled it out of the tank but obviously something failed. In the garbage it goes.

Anyway I expect to lose a lot of my corals to this incident. My cleaner shrimp and true percs seem happy in their new home but I'll be monitoring it closely for ammonia boosts as things die off. Obviously I'll pull them as soon as I'm sure there dead.

Just thought I'd share. Keep an eye on your temps.

Extreme sympathy here: a sump delay in setting up cooked all my live rock: lost my favorite inverts. I credit my Spokane lfs, which volunteered to hold my corals and fish for me, for saving everything else. If not for them---I'd be right there in the same boat.
