Hey Roger, I have a 6100 that I was going to put in my tank and when I removed the shroud for cleaning I noticed a hole in the unit. Is this going to cause an electrical failure??? Is the pump pretty much junk now????

Really????I didn't notice this before. Actually, not that I take a another look at it...it seems as though the hole is symetrical and routed out...you may be right.
It is just a hole to let water fill the void space in the pump, on any pump the plastic is really just a cosmetic shell, the waterproofing is done by polyurethane resin coating the electrical coil.
