Hologram Montipora Requirements

I recently aquired a frag of Hologram Montipora. Can anyone provide tips for best growth in terms of how much PAR to provide? Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. I know sometimes it turns purple base, and sometimes green. I currently have it in an area with about 180 PAR at the bottom of my tank. The only grown out colony I have seen is Ian's...

Here is a picture. I glued it down to let it encrust. I hate when you see where the plug is when corals grow out...

Nice pick up I love montis I can't help you with this one though. May I ask were you got it? I've seen some on eBay from this guy reef Gardner I'm just iffy on him

Nice. Looks like a moldy piece of cookie.:D
For most encrusting montis, I like them in mid tank level with moderate flow.

Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Other than Ian's colony:

The other mature large colony I have ever seen is from SDguy (RC member here):

With more intensive light, the coral turns more green. Less light will give you more purple. Here is a quote from Ian:

It is an unusual monti I purchased as a wild about 3 yrs ago. I spread it around to a few people and they thought it needed a common name. Here is a pic of the colony. It gets green and red in the body and has polyps that are half electric blue. Higher light and lower nutrients generally makes it more green.

Here is an interesting video of Hologram spawning. Nice frag you have there. Good luck!

awesome....I have a small frag of this and this thread has totally got me pumped about it again...thanks :)

The DC/Northern VA market is strong. Picked it up from someone who had gotten it from Ian I believe.

$45 seemed fair to me as well.

It has been growing pretty well. The polyps have kept their color, but the base has browned a little on me due to phosphates...

Gee thanks for the tip! lol I prefer to buy from fellow reefers or local, certainly not online chop shops but again thanks for the lead...

My frag is still small, and I don't ship corals. Maybe you can find someone local in your area with a piece to hook you up.

Goodluck!
