I had the same crab in my old 240g but caught it when I was transferring everything over to my 350g. Before I caught it I noticed a whole colony of Green Paly's was slowly thinning out day by day. It was exiled to my sump and there it remains.
yea, no kidding, I have been noticing palys going bye bye, about 50-100 blue palys on a big plug just went missing about 2 months ago, to bad i can't train him to eat xenia and blue cloves
i found an article which i cant find now...but it mentions that there are a lot of female crabs that can store sperm and then fertilize their eggs at a later date.
so. does a box crab do this? i dont know. would box crab larvae make it to maturity? a huge maybe...but i doubt it. still i didnt take the chance and decided not to it.
