Holy dried polyps batman!

So, yesterday I had frags out and was attaching them to larger rocks in my tank, and I inadvertently left one out until the next evening. When I remembered, I was pretty irritated that I had forgotten. I picked it up and it was as try and crisp as a potato chip. 24 hours had dried it out completely. Just for giggles, I threw it back in the tank to see what would happen---6 hours later, the polyps have re-hydrated and one has even started to open up! This thing was DRY, and I mean NO water left to it at all and the polyps were absolutely flat and about 1/16" thick. I'll post again tomorrow and see if they actually live or if it is just the dead tissue reabsorbing some water.

Hey it can happen. Polyps are out of water a very long time on a real reef. Hours and up to a full day in the hot sun. So its not impossible that they will make. Keep us updated.

As it turned out, they did not survive. They basically melted on the second day back in the water. They put forth a valiant effort though.
