Holy microbubbles, Batman!

Hello everyone,

You may know that I recently got a Reef Octopus BH 1000 HOB skimmer. It's been running about a week. I did a large water change (~40%) today since my cycle has ended and I want to start with as little nitrates in my water as possible. I have clean up crew members arriving tomorrow as well, so I'm ready to get this thing started.

I unplugged the skimmer to do the water change and ever since plugging it back in, it's producing a huge amount of microbubbles. I'm confused since it did not produce this much during the break in of the skimmer. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Thank you. :fish2:

It's still breaking in. Big water changes on a new system will only slow the skimmer from developing a slime coat. Give it time and don't expect much until you get a decent bio load on the system.

It appears that the microbubbles have slowed down considerably this morning, so I'm thinking you're absolutely right. Thanks, reeftivo!
