Holy Popeye. Help

Yesterday I started Epsom salts treatment as recommended on this fish for his popeye. Now today it has tripled in size. Why did it get bigger? What do I do now? Keep treating with Epsom salts or what? It now looks like it has a bubble inside a bubble. It is clear though and not cloudy.

This is what happened. I was blowing my rock off with mj1200 power head as I always do every other month to clean it. My Moorish Idol accidently got in front of the PH and it got blow around. It did a somersault a couple of times and swam off. the next day it was getting a pop eye. I put it in qt tank with antibiotics for 10 days. No improvement. Read about using Epsom salts, so I put it in after water change and removing other meds with carbon. Next day it is tripled in size and now 12 days later it still looks like this. Is there any hope of recovery?

At this point, I would add pratzi to make sure it isn't a fluke, swap the antibiotics for erythromycin, and keep the Epsom salts in the water. Be sure the water is very clean with ideal parameters, sufficient heat, and the fish has ample hiding places, reduced light, etc - to relieve stress. And, make sure there is no source for gas supersaturation(any source of bubbles, water splashing, leaky pipes).

Keep using the Epsom salt 1 tablespoon per 5g daily. If it doesn't improve at all in a couple of days the only option you may have it to use a needle and relieve the swelling

I'm going through the same thing with my Moorish idol as well. I've tried a round of kanaplex and erythromycin, and it hasn't helped. I've used a syringe twice to relieve the pressure, but the swelling returns. At this point I'm going to let it run it course and see what happens.

Unfortunately, run its course prob means the eye will die and fall off... I didn't think Moorish idols can last long in captivity. Perhaps this is a common issue. I would still recommend to reduce stress and provide pristine water at a min.

Do I do a water change before adding more Epsom salt or just keep adding it daily without water changes?
