Home Depot LED light bulbs

My local home depot doesn't have them in the 6500 K range, but I have seen them on flea bay for fuge use.

A majority of those bulbs(all that I looked at actually) would not be suitable for reef use. If the simplicity is what you'r drawn to, then I suggest checking out the PAR38 bulbs. There is some Chinese knock-offs on eBay too.

Why do you say that?

Looking to use them for the fuge, but would be interesting to hear if anyone has tried them for the display.

What bulb is recommended?

The fuge would work fine. But their color is way too warm to use in the reef. And you'd still need some serious blue supplementing. If you want to see people using similar bulbs over their display, check out the Chinese led thread.

I say they would be fine for fuge use, I use the regular spiral CF lighting. Works a heck of a lot better then my last set up.

I use two over the fuge. grows chaeto great.

a little too yellow for the dt, imo.

Ecosmart 18W cool white bulb 4900K

ECS38 CW FL 120- On homedepot's site it is mislabeled as 13W.

But it has 18W stamped on the lamp.

I've read that if you remove the lens, you get a wider spread and more lumens.

I ran them on the dt to see what they look like and next to my AI sols, they were far too yellow for a reef. OK for FO. Although some think the ai sols are too blue.
