It seem that the search engine only works for people without a premium membership 5 % of the time.

But with the Premium membership it always works HTH.

yeah it barely works with the free membership, you have to use it during the odd hours of the day to work

The Pakmix playsand is a silica sand and it is totally safe. I have 200lbs of it in my tank. BUT, it is ugly ugly ugly and I hate it. I wish I would have just bought real sand and been done with it. You can get good deals on aragnoite (70cents a pound or so).

I am slowly trying to remove the ugly sand and replace it. Don't make the same mistake. At the very least mix it.

Ask James (aka Wiskey). He used sand from either HD or Lowes and it is not Pakmix and it is pretty good.

I bit the bullet and bought all aragonite, Glad I did too but it definitly hurts the wallet :( Although the shock value of telling your friends and family you spent over 600bucks on rocks and sand is priceless

call cemex, they have a non silica sand that is white, i cant remeber what it is called. Ask them for white sandbox sand.

can you buy aragonit play sand? and isnt there aragonite live? whats the difference and do they both work. I know the play sand is cheaper right?

Southdown used to be aragonite and thats why it was so big....heard something about Caribisea buying rights to selling it or to their mine and now the only aragonite based sand is sold by them. Story may be BS but that is the only known source of aragonite based sand now....and yes there is a product called aragalive but I seriously doubt its integrity. Don't expect much to stay alive sitting on a shelf for weeks; except maybe bacteria if you're lucky.

so do u think buying aragonite play sand would be just as good or what other kind of live sand is there?

I think so unless the sand has been treated. If you can find aragonite play sand somewhere, let me know.

Do you have a link or contact?

i think you're refering to arag-alive. Stay away from that stuff. Basically what they're doing is charging you like double or something the price of their regular sand, but only to give you wet sand. I got it for my first tank and it really wanst all that it was made out to be. Didnt have anything living in it (like mellowyellow said...who knows how long its been sitting on the shelf). Bout the only thing it added to my tnak was amonia :( Waste of money for me.
