I have seen some tanks with these type of led's over them my question is are these able to work for a shallow tank say 10-20 gal tank for corals, also are these any good for sump lights?

they are 3000k i think you need 5000k

I think for a sump they would work fine, i am just not sure about how corals would do with them.

there is a thread in the main reef section about these lights and the home depot lights. there is mention also of peeling of the yellow silicon lense for a bluer white. I may try peeling mine on my DIY, to see the outcome.

no, I dont see the thread right now. But I did go to home depot and look at the lights. if the color can be changed, they look promising. they also have weatherproof sockets with bare wires up fron in the christmas display.

Yea I will go shopping this weekend and take a closer look, I just have seen these lights hanging over a few tanks . Should I be looking more at lumans, par or k

at home depot they will only give lumens and K. but if you are taking off the lens, K wont be the same. they dont have anything over 5000K anyway.

Don't waste your money on those LEDs.they are the wrong color temp and for the price you can get the correct par 38 bulb from a reef store.
