Homemade salt

I remember seeing a thread somewhere about a salt recipe that someone was using for a shark tank. Could someone with a Premium membership check and give a link to any related threads.

On a side note, one of these reef central Sponsors should help RC's server, or RC should change the search function to say "You need to pay to search. If you have a question that could be solved by a simple search, start a completely new thread and waste everyones time."

Rant over

yeah, really. it used to be that about half the time you try you would get in the search. now, no matter what you cant get in for the life of me. ive sat there trying for 15 minutes at times...

I can sometimes got on between 1-6 am

the thing i don't get is this, if the search worked it would cut down on traffic on the site because there wouldn't be 10,000 double, triple, and quad posts about the same exact thing because people would be able to search for what they are looking for and get answers...

Haha thanks for the support and the Bumps. :) is anyone on this site actually paying for a premium membership? I finally got my question answered by going to another site. It seems that RC is imploding because of its own mass.

im probably going to because of the search.

With all those tanks you list (which must cost a bundle) you can' t afford the measly $24/year to support this site. Buck up buddy and quit your whining....

Thanks!

I use a home made mix for raising mysids and brine shrimp, and, I mix 1/2 this mix with 1/2 I.O. for use in my fish only tanks.
Randy Holmes-Farley recommended the ratio when I gave him the ingredients I found on another site.
I mix by weight, 96 ounces of sodium chloride in the form of evaporated water softener salt, and add 26 ounces of magnesium sulphate, (epsom salts), and finish with 4 ounces of calcium chloride.
I dilute to 1.025. Makes approx. 34 US gallons.

Now that Randy is changing the magnesium portion of his calcium/alk formula, I'll probably make up the 26 ounce epsom salts portion as part magnesium chloride and part magnesium suphate.
