Your right Becca, I am done replying to this thread. It is starting to look like a troll thread.
I apologize for anything I said that might have mad people mad. Lets just keep this forum reef related. Deal?
Done, see ya, bye.
I did not direct my original post at anyone, just stated the fact that it appeared like everyone was diagnosing this person as being mental. I just felt that was wrong, and unfair. But what do I know?

saltysupply - an ameoba is a very well known eukaryote that is able to live outside its natural environment and cause even death in humans.

Didn't think of that, I guess it could be plausible

And for some humor, always remember to watch out for the forum moster!

I have a degree in psy and worked for 4 years with out and in patient severally mentally ill in the central Florida area. Lets just say that Lakeside, Parkplace behavioral, and Osceola mental health were my second homes! I would really love to hear the rest of the story, that he found out what it was, got treated and we determine what we can do to protect ourselves. But we all take a BILLION pictures of our tanks and pets and whatnot, but he had a baggie of these things and didnt take a picture? And never came back to say anything more?

realize, this is in NO WAY A RIP, TEAR, DEGRADE, POKING FUN, BEING MEAN. Just throwing it out there as something that raised a flag.

Sorry for starting a ruckuss over here. There have been several professionals in many fields who have voiced their disbelief on the thread and stated their reasons why. I think it is wrong to let others get scared of imaginary space worms in their tanks if that is what this amounts to. If the person has a real marine parasite then we all want to know what its about. Im sure many people on RC would offer him help if he needed it too.

Either way, it seemed sensable to try to find out the truth. I thought ORCA would be a good place to turn to since he hails from your home turff. Sorry again for getting anyone upset. Can we all kiss and make up now?

Guys, I never had an issue with calling this person out for pictures of what is supposed to be going on. I would also love to see them. I am also curious why this person has not replied back with pictures. I was not trying to defend him, just to stop what looked like an apparent bashing. I do not know this person, nor have I ever had any kind of contact with them.
I also never named anyone in my original post. I just felt like this was turned around to look like this person was a whack job or something. While that could be the case, I still feel that you are innocent until proven (or diagnosed) guilty.
I apologize for making the statements I made, lets just keep in mind we all come here for reef discussion, reef information, or just to chat. Lets not start calling people out as being crazy.
Again I apologize.
Now lets get back to reefing.

No matter what is going on here, its bad and serious. I really feel bad and would like to know the outcome of the situation, because NO MATTER WHAT is going on its bad.

As I stated on the other thread, if this guy is relatively new to the hobby, a fireworm sting can be very painful and perhaps he's mistaking the bristles for worms if he didn't see what got him. I got nailed a few months ago by a large, very mean fireworm and as a many who saw my fingers can attest, I had some rather ugly, purple, swollen and infected lumps on my hands that I was pulling large bristles out of for days afterwards. I guess they could look like worms to someone not familiar.

Without this person giving his actual diagnosis after they find out whats up, we can only speculate.

However, Marcye is right, bristleworms are BIG ouchies. Even with latex gloves if you accidentally grab one at the wrong angle.. yeesh. Time for the vinegar!

Sometimes I get the buggars (they multiply in my sump) stuck to my filter sock and I don't see them and i accidentally grab them :(

According to the RC thread, Hocci passed on the 17th.

Stuff does not add up:

This is quoting "his wife": "I just wanted to let you know that Hooci passed away 2 nights ago. As his fiancee, I wanted to make everyone aware of how serious this was, and to let you know to be careful with your tanks. We're not sure of the exact cause of death yet, as tests are still being run. Please please please take things seriously and always wear gloves. This could just as easily happen to anyone else."

She made the post on the 19th so that mean he passed on the 17th. So i did some research and researched death records for the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th and there is no record of a 32 year old passing away. Hocci, according to his RC profile was born in 1975, which makes him 32.

If this was a joke it's pretty sick.....

Seen any good movies lately?

(The clever mod uses a diversion so no one sees him reaching for the "thread close" button. With no defense, the closure is successful!)
