Hoping to save this one

couldn't resist this Nem at the LFS for $18.00 I know we have a ways to go but I am hoping the chances are better with me than if I had left this one at the store to fend for itself. Seems like some of the color is already starting to improve and its only been in my tank for a week. keep you posted on progress. sorry for the quality on the pics I could not get the White Balance right today for some reason.

Good luck! You will know you are getting somewhere when it starts to turn brown. Also, I would highly reccommend feeding it mysis every couple days in case you aren't already.

Feeding began about two days after it made it home. Every other day I am target feeding small amounts, and so far every time I feed the Nem eats. Also I have several layers of screen under my light hood directly about where this Nem has decided to stay just to give some added protection and adjustment to my lights. Plan is to thin out the layers every week or so as I see that we are progressing in the right direction.

Looks almost like mine when i got mine. Mine has been in the tank about a month and is regaining its zoo daily and its tenicles are a lot more elongated. I mix feed mine every other day and rotate between PE mysis, krill, and NLS pellets.

came home from work today and Mine has now relocated to a different part of the tank and is actually attached to the rockwork now!!! not 100% on this but I thought they preferred the sandbed. is it possible this one is now looking for more light?its been less than a full week in my tank with the screen in place but i guess each Nem is different if anyone has any input on lighting that would be great, don't want to either over expose or under expose to create more stress than needed

When I got one like yours I didn't need to cover it. Remove a layer and check back in an hour. If it's too much light it will gape its mouth or deflate somewhat. Repeat daily until it reacts then put a layer back.

However, these nems like rock or sand, depending on their personality. So it may like it up there better for some other reason.

Tazz, I have a crispa that started off about as bleached as yours. It's darkening up now and the only place it's found and remained attached is to a large piece of rock. When it would attach to small pieces of rock, it wouldn't be long before it wandered. Now it's base is in a hole in a large piece of liverock and it hasn't moved in well over a week. I've researched this some, and it seems that although sometimes they attach in the sand, more often they attach to liverock. This appears to be the case in nature as well, there are many pics of H. crispa in the wild living amid corals and rock work. Best of luck with it.

Thanks Gary... Seems as if we have found our comfort zone so to speak for now. Attached to a large piece of base rock kind of tucked in under a shelf above it but not so deep that if it wants to extend out into the light it ca wit no problem. It continues to look as if some darker color is returning to the tents although it's a slow process. Fed again last night and once again this Nem ate as I would expect it to. Only real problem is, the clown has not had time to develop that special bond yet so it likes to steal food right out of its new found friend if she isn't quick to wrap her food up.
I appreciate all the input and will continue to update on progress

Best of luck, and keep us posted. I wonder if it might be best to keep the clown away from the anemone till it has recovered more fully...it probably doesn't need the additional stress of a clownfish harassing it.
