Keri, I have pm'd him. If you go up there today, can you pick up some rock for me? I wont be able to get up there until tomorrow afternoon or Friday.

If he selects me, I will definitely get the rock for you. My friend has a pickup, but I'm not even sure its long enough.... If I have to, I'll rent a U-HAUL. It's a smokin deal (anything free is smokin!)
 
None yet. I haven't heard from the guy yet, but I did see his post about having tons of emails about the tank... Of course since he offered it up for free. I think I have a good shot though, cause almost everyone else that replied had at least 46 gallon setups....
 
Here is the post from PSEUDOREEFER. Do you guys think this is do-able for me? I didn't think it would be that heavy.....I also don't want to commit to this without knowing that I can actually get the tank. Any helpers? Advice? I would make sure that whoever helped me would be rewarded somehow....

Also as a side note; the tank does not come with any equipment. Just the tank, stand, and canopy of the 150 and 60 fuge are included. If you'd like some equipment, I'll be starting another thread selling equipment tomorrow morning. Keep in mind before spamming more pms that it will take a fair amount of money to get this setup running again (getting new equipment), so don't think that this is a free running system. You need money to get it going (a giant, heavy and empty tank would be a great hassle to whoever has it).

Rock was taken earlier today by jaw969. He's starting up a 135 and will have a lot more rock than he needs, so if you need a tiny bit like I know a lot who responded do, you may be able to pick some up from him if you ask nicely :)

Sand is still in the tank covered in water, but with no heating or flow for about a day now I'm not sure how live it is. If you'd still like some you can come by tomorrow sometime. Just give me a pm tomorrow morning with contact info and I'll get you directions and save you some sand. Other than that it will be going into the trash.

No livestock is remaining for those who asked - everything living went to key's.

I'm terribly sorry for any negative tone, but it has really been a hellish day. I really am truly grateful for everyone who has helped me through it.

My advice would be to realy consider the overall cost on setting this tank up. Your going to spend ALOT of money getting this up and running and also is this the size of tank you want? And the style. You can find good deals on fully set up tanks and save a lot as opposed to buying all equipment sepperatly. Im not in line for this tank and dont know any one who is, I just dont want you to get in over your head and regret not getting the tank you really want. Also when you move......
 
We wanted to upgrade to this size someday anyway, but didn't expect a free offer to come our way. I completely understand the cost, and will probably have a bare tank for a long time. We won't set it up right now anyway, because we will be moving soon, which means we will have to move it twice... :(
 
I can help too but, Pseudo brings up some good point, as does bigsittingrock. I realize it is free but is it going to be cost effective to set up? Can you drill it?

I know it will be expensive to set up, but it doesn't have to happen right away either, since we will be moving soon and it won't be setup in the immediate future.

I am asking him how much he would like for the equipment. I am sure it will be the cost of a small car, but I can piece it together.....

Didn't you all tell me to go huge anyway? ;)
 
Don't let the cost of equipment discourage you. You would have to buy new equip anyway. The tank, stand and canopy would still cost something somewhere else.
 
Lights, pumps, ROCK $$$, sand, skimmer, ....

Honestly Keri unless you can get the equipment for under $800, I think that the tank Calvin145's friend has, would be the better deal. All that needs is a sump and some pumps (if memory serves me). It may have some Hair algae but a $50 Rabbit fish would make quick work of that and keep it that way.

Either way I would be more than happy to help move a tank.
 
Ok, so I just spoke with Malcolm (PSEUDOREEFER) and we are going to try to pick the tank up this weekend. He said that it is very heavy and I will need at least 10 people.... :(

I think Sunday will work out best, since the weather could be iffy on Saturday. Any volunteers? You guys will get to see my ghetto neighborhood! LOL and I will buy pizza/beer/sodas for you all.

He said that it all might not fit in a pickup so I was thinking about renting a UHAUL. Any ideas?
 
So for equipment I am going to need: Lights, Return Pump (he has one but it needs a new seal, he'll sell it to me for $150), Heaters, Skimmer. Anything else?

Do you guys think that this is a bad deal?
