I have had a horrible algae outbreak and I was wondering if anyone could help. I was wondering if anyone knows what might eat this crap. all I know is over 2 weeks this stuff is just covering my tank. I am pretty sure it was do to my ro water having high tds (50 ppm) because I didn't change the filters. I have changed them and its 0 now but I have this nasty crap all over my tank. Does anyone know what it is?

Is it brown or red? Really hard to tell by the pics but research Lobophora Variegata. From what I can see it looks somewhat like the early growth stages to me.

looks kinda like bryopisis, do a large water change, i've been having some troubles too on my tank and foudn that beneficial. been changing about 50% a week for a month now and its finally working a little bit.

I have no idea what it is. I think it may be related to my start of ecobak. I know it sounds crazy but its all I can link it too.

The top photo looks like you have bryopsis, it looks like little feathers and turn a dark/light green when allowed to grow. My lawnmower blenny and emerald crabs don't even touch this stuff. you can remove as much as possible then try kent tech-m to raise your magnesium. it's supposedly an impurity in the tech-m that kills it off. start dosing at 1ml per gallon each for 3 days then increase to 1.5ml per gallon until the algae goes away, usually more works well but be sure to monitor the levels. should take about a week or so. I battle this stuff every time I come back home from a trip. i've read somewhere in the forums that the brightwell stuff works the same and is much cheaper to dose but have not tried it just yet. i have bryopsis in small patches right now and i plan on using the brightwell magnesium for managing the bryopsis and maintaining magnesium levels. we'll see how that goes. df
