Hi,

I just added a Green Bubble Tip anenome and True Percula to my 120 Gallon Reef tank today.

1)I know this question musthave been asked over 7 million times before, I know it can be a total crap shoot, but what is the usual process time to the Clown finding and accepting the anenome?

2) Is there anyway to "draw" the Clown to the anenome?

3) Will 2 different species of clownfish ever share the same individual hosting anenome?

4) Can you keep 2 different types of Clowns in the same tank? (I wanna get a Gold Stripe Maroon)

5) Can I add another true Percula now that there is one already in there?

6) is there a Clowny FAQ that will answer some/most of these questions?

Thanks for your help. The anenome seems to have really taken to my tank and is doing well.

[welcome]

1) Could be minutes, or could be 6+ months, really depends on the clowns

2) Some people have tried putting a picture of a clown/anemone hoping that it will entice them clowns to be hosted. However, no way of really knowing if that works. I personally like just waiting until the clowns are ready. Some people have put the clowns and anemones in a confined space, so that the clowns don't have a choice. I think that is a bad idea, could very well end up being an expensive meal for the anemone.

3) There are a few exceptions, but in general; No.

4) There are a few exceptions, but in most case will end up with just one pair, and the other pair will be dead.

5) Yes, with caution. Would try to get a smaller one, the smallest you can find.

6) Yes, at the top of this forum.

Thanks for your answers and your patience.

I woke up this morning and the Perc was nestling in the anenome---Coolness!

That was less than 24 HRs---so I guess I lucked out.

Now I really wanna add another one. How can I tell the sex of the True Percula I already have. Its got a pretty big black marking on it.

regards,respect,
alan

How long have you had the clown? And how big is it? It is easier to tell which one is which after the fact, since the female will be the larger one.

Without knowing the size, I would say get a smaller one.
