This may be a really silly question, but do certain clowns tend to host more in certain types of anemones? If so, what are some of the common pairings???

Yes.

Here is a good link, it shows the natural hosts. Of course you have to take into account how hard it is to care for and find each of those anemones. It seems like BTAs, will host the most clown fish, natural or not.
