Hello I know the answer will be no but I gotta ask... Is there an easy/cheap/fast way to cool my tank? The temp outside is rising and so is my tank temp. I keep it between 75-79 now its between 80-83. Im getting nervous. Please help Thanks in advance Bill

honeywell brand fans at walmart work well and they are around 10 bucks. I would keep an eye out for a used chiller. For your 55g tank you wont need an big expensive one.

Where are your lights? Do the light fixtures have fans? Can they be put on legs to lift them up so air can circulate under them? Can you run them less? If you have a full canopy open it up. If you have jumpers you can cut egg crate to make a barrier your fish can't get through but allow heat to escape. You can also use a fan to blow across your sump.

Thanks for the replies you guys are always great :) My lights are on legs and do have fans and I have glass top canopies they dont cover the whole top but alot of it. I dont have a sump but I really think I need one but the whole idea scares me I would hate to lose power and empty my tank on the floor.

83 isn't that bad- do u have corals, if not the fish will surive. the ocean's temp range from 78-83degrees respectively. Perhaps you might want to lift ur lights off the water a little more w/ a hanging adaptor. Watch for heater malfunctions as well.

in that case u might want to be careful then, corals are much more sensitive to heat. Try running ur lights at a short time period, invest in an A/C or small Chiller if the problem is often occuring.
