House of Fins Splash

I also talked to Rob tonight from House of Fins and they would like to have a good turn out for the speakers. We chatted and he has graciously offered

$10 off any purchase to offset your travel expense.

To get your $10 credit you can present a printed page from this forum's website or a membership card and present it at the register. (just something to show you are from CTARS)

I then talked with Michelle..This is something she posted on her facebook page. I thought you might like to take a look at one of her photos.

Rob didn't have a list for me but he said there were some custom built tanks, some up to 250gallons, that I think he said customers ordered and then changed their minds..so he is doing something he referred to as a "blow out" sale. I remember last year..there were some really nice tanks at amazing prices.

Tom and I will be there both day. I hope to see you there!

Happy Reefing!

Linda

just when you all are starting to convince me... I have a Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystems field trip Sat and work on Sun... Forgot about the field trip...
Have fun everyone!

It finally came to me..."custom miss builds" is what Rob called them. When the custom tanks came in it wasn't what the customer had in their mind. So from what I understand they are brand new tanks that Rob doesn't have room or want to store anymore.

hmmmm..wonder what he has down there this year

As you may be aware, Metal Halide bulbs are loaded with Mercury and should not be thrown away. So for those going to the House of Fins Splash, bring along any old used Metal Halide bulbs and drop them off at the CTARS table. CTARS will collect them to ICE Cap and recycle them into brand new bulbs.

thanks ha. but i was just wondering how much it was going to be!

I'll try to remember to look and tell you what it went for.

I just LOVE going to see all the unique things that Rob brought back from his trip for this sale.

I remember last year when Jake Adams spent hours taking photos of fish for his projects http://www.coralidea.com/ and fishidea. Jake looked like he was kid in a candy store. Best part was Rob gave him an OMG fish as a 'thank you for speaking'. I'll have to get the name of what it was and let you know.

Make sure if your from CTARS and are able to come by this weekend please stop by and say "Hi" to me and Tom. I hate when I miss the chance to see you guys.

 Hope to see you there

That was fun, thanks House of Fins! Bob Fenner and Scott Michaels were excellent, very entertaining. And as always, the livestock at HOF was outstanding. Free lunch, free speakers - great time.

I took a few, but I will see if we can get Michael Moye to post some - He has the gear and looks like his shots will be a lot better than my little cam.
