How about a group buy of critters?

It is time to buy some more snails. Since I will be buying quite a few thought might be a good time for a group buy. We buy at the group rate and divide shipping costs. They only sale critters, no fish. So shout out what you might be interested in. If there is enough interest I will take firm orders and get more info on prices.

Im interested, but im doing interceptor treatments for the next few weeks, so if the group by is still available then i'll get some snails and some tiger tail cucumbers.

i know a place who can do group buys on other critters too, just need to know how many of what, so I can find out what the rate would be.

Count me in, i need some more snails, hermits, and starfish.
I would also be interested in a group buy of fish and corals too.

I would also be interested in a group by on snails, etc. I'm mainly looking for trochus, nerite, and conches.

Thanks,

Gina

Aquarist Guru, how about we talk on the phone or email figure out what is the best price and go from there.

Why don't we plan for the critters to arrive the last week of this month. Aquarist Guru and I will work on prices, hopefully post those soon. Give everyone a week to decide and then we will post order.

Does that work for everyone?

Just make sure to leave a week of talks back and forth with the distributer because they will need to check stock and all that and give us the discount costs, to see if we want it or not.

Call anytime (209)830-7266 Jarrod.

Also just talked to the guys at TFO and they say they have a planned blow out sale of bulk buy Live Rock anyone interested in hearing more about that?

I got a bit more info, what I'll need is a talley of whatever, including fish, they even do impossible fish for those who collect rare species but do know the price matches, and what they do is send out the info to their people on the reefs or farms and its up to luck and how hard the fish is to find on the turn around.

As for simple stuff like this, it will basically be how much is in stock (these guys are the biggest in the nation) and if they need more how soon they will get their shipment in then it will be at one of our homes in 24 hours.

Most likely I'll send it to me and do a drive around to everyones house that night for a drop off of fresh snails/crabs ect.

As for the Lyre tails we can do that too they said, or anything else, again the turn around will depend on how often they are gathered.

An example was, we are buying a pair of super rare australian clowns for a guy in Chicago, who wants them garanteed mating pairs.

The turn around is up to a year, but as soon as a week, depending on if the fish swim off the reef because the law where they are found in part of Australia is you can't catch anything actually within so many feet of the reef, and the navy there will litterally dive with the catchers each dive to make sure of it.

So as you can see its a luck thing to not only get that kind of rare fish but a pair is even more lucky.

Then with the same breath they sell about 2000 percula's a day.

I have questions:

1) Who is organizing this group buy, Julie or Jarrod?
2) What snails, crabs, etc... are available (specifically the ones already mentioned in this thread)?
3) What are the prices and/or what quantities do we need to hit to get price breaks?
4) Shipping is going to get pretty expensive if we start adding fish, live rock, etc... (not really a question).

reeftopia.com is also a popular option for critter group buys due to good prices and I believe free shipping on orders over x dollar amount. Last time I looked though they didn't have trochus snails :(

Fish we can buy in bulk per species, crabs and snails we might be able to bulk and rock of course it would be by type.

He's gonna give me some prices for various senarious.

Hey that sounds good. Why don't we do this two part. One for the clean up crew, I will organize that and one for rock and fish you take that part. It sounds like your place is better for the fish and rock and there are two places I am looking at for the crew. I will try to post prices asap.

On fish it is just the Lyre tails anthias I am interested in. Well, I could be a sucker for the right wrasse too :)
