How about....

....a basic two piece wet/dry side prop pump based on the MP20. No wavecrest, wireless, or any driver for that matter. Just plug into 120v and have full on all the time like your 'all in the tank' competition? Make it cost around $100. Maybe even use the same wetside so's one could upgrade to the driver in the future?

What say you?

Sounds simpler than it is. Unfortunately AC motors are so much bigger and less efficient than a BLDC motor like what we use that the concept in general really doesn't work anymore.

That being said, we're always working on new things and overcoming obstacles is part of any new product development.
