How big a Frogspawn to host clowns?

I'm considering getting a Frogspawn to see if my clowns will host in it.

I'm wondering how big a piece would be required.. or should I say.. how small a piece would be acceptable... And would the size make a difference in how likely they would be to take to it..

My clowns are both under 2 inches..

I have a huge 14" across frogspawn and my two clownfish in my 240 gallon tank never are around it. They stay on complete opposite side if tank from it. In my 72 gallon tank, I broke about 3 heads off my large coral and put in the 72 those clownfish never leave it.

Yea its luck of the draw with hosting. I have a frogspawn and torch but my clowns prefer my overflow.

Same as turkey. I have a frogspawn and toadstool, but the clowna like the corner better. I even tried taping pictures of clowns hosting on my tanks for weeks, but that didn't work. I've heard of taking the coral/ nem and either covering it with the clowns in it or removing the coral/nem in a small container with the clowns so they have to touch it . Seems like too much work, and the clowns seem happy rubbing each other

Sounds like you're not going to attempt this but for anyone else that might think about trying it, please don't. The stress this would cause could very well injure or kill the fish.

Also, if you ever watch clowns in a nem you'll see that they exert a lot of abuse on their hosts. Nems are built to take this abuse, corals are not. I'm not saying that every coral that serves as a host to clowns will be killed but the odds are not in the coral's favor.

It is a 58g tank with an MP40w set on about 40-50% in reefcrest mode...it was at a high point during the video

Depends on if the fs is cool with it... My clown has moved from coral to coral incl fs and hammer and finally settled on candy... I bought an anemone since the candy was looking abused. Since I put the nem in, the candy has decided it loves having a host.

Sadly, we can't read a dumb little fish mind... Maybe it would say hi every 18 seconds!
