how big do these angels get?

I go with an 80% rule. If LA gives a max size, take 80% of that as being how big you can expect it to grow in captivity.

One thing worth noting, is that there is a lot of misguided info out there. For example, the Maculosous Angel can be listed as 16 inch max all the way up to 24 inch max. I have seen a Mac Angel at 2 feet 4 inches in a private aquarium

Every tank is different any every angel even from the same family will grow at different rates. My french has went from 4 to 9 inches in a year, that was unreal to watch while my mac has maybe grown from 4 to 6 in that same time. Queen angel that i got around 10inches has not grown at all in 3years even with them all getting lots of food and clean water.

I'm just guessing at what you're getting at , but I looked at your profile and all of these are way too big for a 135, IMO.

They are all way too big for your 135. Even a 180 is really pushing it. Look into some dwarf angels, there are a lot of cool ones out there.

Fishbase list Pomacanthus maculosus maximum size at 20inches, normal length in captivity 8inches.

thanks they sugest lot bigger tanks then I had seen for those angels.would a bluespotted angel or other 8 in angel get to big?amd how big would it get? LA sugests a 125
amd acording to the 80% of LA max size it would get 6.5 in but that seems small.

A blue spotted angel is probably the only "large angel" that will do well in tank under 300g. Good luck in finding one. I've seen 5 in the past 3 years. 3 were at on-line vendors, 1 was in a LFS and the other was listed by wholesaler, but sold before my guy could get to it.

You know what is a great fish that has that BIG angel look to it, in a compact size? The Asfur Angel. And it would be perfect for your 135. I had one for 7 years and loved it. It was about 6-7 inches with a deep body and streamers. Awesome fish!

I just looked the Asfur up on LA and it says 1 feet 4 inches. I'm shocked. I apologize for leading a bad recommendation. Mine passed during a power outage after 7 years. I figured he was done growing, but apparently far from it. Dumb me.
