I had a 220 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump on the second floor of my house for years. I had the tank running perpendicular to the joists and it was an old house which helped.
probably bigger than you want to have on your second floor if it runs perpendicular to the floor joists back to or over top of a supporting wall and without a big bay window directly underneath.
How many marbles can you fit in a jar? Same answer, it depends on the jar. Or in your case, the house. One place I lived had the parking on the second floor. Around 30 tons, which would be a six thousand gallon tank.
That's probably a question better suited for an architectural engineer rather than a fish enthusiast no offense as their answers are more on risks versus fact. Answers such as how big is the house are irrelevant. Each gallon of water weighs about 8.3 lbs plus the weight of the glass the stand filtration sump live rock, heck people standing in front of it gawking at your beautiful corals for than matter lol. Good luck get a professional opinion better safe than sorry. That's alot of damage if things went bad
