How can I disinfect equipment

Is there any way to safely disinfect "hard" equipment such as a cleaner/siphon and hydrometer so that I don't carry disease between my QT and display. Bleach solution is mentioned in the Fenner book but no concentration given. I know it would have to be very, very dilute and well rinsed. Anyone know?

You can disinfect with hydrogen peroxide, then wash off. Bleach can be hard on equipment. Once soaked in bleach, equipment has to be soaked in water with amquel to neutralize chlorine.

Would rinsing/soaking in very hot fresh water, then making sure equipment is bone dry before reusing it be sufficient? I seem to remember reading somewhere that you could re-use a tank that had been used for quarintine for another purpose as long as it is rinsed and allowed to dry completely before refilling. Any thoughts? If using hydrogen peroxide, are you talking about using it straight out of the bottle or diluting it?

You can use the hot water dry routine, it should be sufficient. Over the counter peroxide is only 3% strength. Diluting it more will make it worthless. They use 30% peroxide in comercial aquaculture systems to treat external parasitic infections. So straight out of the bottle should be fine.
