How close to mount VHO's?

I am building a canopy to house my new VHO's. How close should they be to the water and do they need a shield to protect them from splashes and evaporation?

Within 3 in.s of the surface of the water. There is a couple of threads here about just this.

Yeah, I have tried several times to do a search but it rarely works. I did try this morning however and was successful, but couldn't find what I was looking for. Maybe I didn't use the right keywords.

If the endcaps are waterproof do I need a moisture barrier?

No you don't need a barrier.

I don't have a barrier on my canopy, and my bulbs are fine, just wipe the salt splashes off of them occasionally. Check out the geothermal aquatic research facility to see how they use vhos

They do make end-caps that are water resistant for VHOs. A few inches off is fine .
