how deep can my clam be?

I have a T. crocea which is about 3 inches across. Now i need to know where I can place him. the problem is my tank is 30 inches deep. I have 3 250W DE Phoenix 14K Aquamedic HQI's on the tank now. One every two feet and they are about 6 inches off the water. Will he be ok on the sandbed, I just want to be sure....

My crocea is ~24" away from the bulb of one 250DE 14K on Icecaps. You got an extra foot on me though.
I'm pretty sure he'll be fine...put him on a small, flat peice of rubble rock or something before you put him in the sandbed though...if you get him to attach to the small rock you can move hiim whenever you want if you're worried about it.

I've got a maxima in a 30" deep tank w/ 175W 10K MH and 220W atinic PC. He's been there for almost a month and seems to be doing fine.
