How did you convince your clowns to host your new anenome?

How did you guys do it? My stubborn clowns refuse to leave the vicinity of their current host, torch corals. Not even more than 3'' diameter of it. I tried chasing them with a net towards the anenome, but nope. They just hover over the anenome and run right back to the torch coral. It's not even a huge tank either where the anenome could get lost. It's a 24 AP!!

Don't rush things, just let them find it on their own. If you force clowns into an anemone it's incredibly stressful for all creatures involved, and there's always the chance that the anemone will nab a clown and try to eat it.

I said listen Nemo get going into the anenome or (YOUR SHARK BAIT) after the father son talk there was a fart bubble trail all the way across the tank.
LOL (couldent resist)

Yeah you're right. I'll just give'em their space. Maybe I will drop the food only near the anenome so they will take notice of the anenome.

If you really want them to stop hosting the coral you're going to have to remove it.
Once the coral is gone they may decide to look for a new host, and choose the anemone.
They may also decide to start hosting a powerhead, or a magfloat... lol

Maybe I will move the torch near the anenome for a few days. That's a perfect idea actually. Thanks loyalrogue!

Whoa, whoa, hold on a sec.

I said remove the torch coral, not move it next to the anemone.

#1) You could move their current host all over the tank and they will be perfectly content to follow it and keep hosting it forever. (just like how an anemone naturally "wanders" the reef.)

#2) More importantly, Euphyllia Torch Coral possess some long, stinging sweeper tentacles that come out at night and extend several inches around it.
You definitely don't want to accidentally start a stinging competition or warfare between your anemone and your coral.
(I had my LTA take a "stroll" thru my corals one day while I was at work. By the time I got home half the corals in the tank were shriveled up, expelling their guts, or had necrotic holes in their flesh... not a pretty sight.)

My advice would be to move the torch to your QT, or a friend's tank for a few weeks to see if the clowns will seek out a new host in the torch's absence.
If by luck they start hosting the anemone then you could try bringing back the torch later and see how it goes.
Unfortunately, you may end up having to make the choice between keeping your torch, or having your clowns host the anemone, but let's hope not.

Good luck!

I'm wondering how your torch is faring with the clowns hosting in it? LPS usually dont handle the hosting very well especially if its a large snuggly clown. =) what type of clown is it ?
